My First Professional Voyage : TechMahindra Part 1

As i near the end of my journey with the TechMahindra, which happens to be the My First Corporate Work Place, I just thought to pen down its details . If I happen to give one word for my TechM experience I would say it to be RollerCoaster ride. I have seen the periods when i felt like King and on the other hand there were instances when i felt like being useless and lost.

It all started with TechMahindra (then MBT) shorlisting me in Campus Interview to join them on 21st July 2006. The then college goer me was an imature bloke who wanted to step out in outside world and make it count. To be very true i wasnt much intrested in joining IT then, was much intrested in completing my MBA and get a dream job (which i feel is a goal unattended still).but my destiny want me to come to pune and join this Telecom Service giant.

The early days were still like revisiting a professional college. i say it a professional since there was very little margin of error and stakes were high. We had to start with Initial Training Program (ITP) and we were branded as ITPians of 2006. ITP is a very strict training schedule followed by TechMahindra and they want their new joinees to attain very high standards in all training modules. As I said I was very imature and unintrested in all this engagement my attittude towards the training was least bothering. But in the end i realised that it was my unintentional attitude that was helping me out in such a stressful training. When all my batch used to bang their heads in books learning the subroutines i used to mingle with other batch students enjoying my day and when these guys get busy with their books i used to return to my batch to have a good time. The end result, i managed to clear all my exams, surprising but true. Their was elite group of 7 who managed not to flunk in any of their exams and proudly i was one of them. After techinical training , we were slotted for behavioral module which was 10 days of sheer fun. All the training thing ended with a grand Party at The Garden Court, a lavish restaurent in pune.

After completing our training modules, we were put on projects after long waiting days in Company canteen. I was selected for an Internal Project; intially which seemed to be a very boring affair proved out to the best thing that have happened to me in my professional career. This was a perfect platform which made me grow as a Peoplesoft technical Consultant and thus armed me with all the knowledge and experience to step Float into Niche Skill Like Peoplesoft.

Initial Days were more of Watch and Learn, Also it included my efforts for CAT and MBA dream. Being an in-house project it provided me flexibility of timing, holidays and more over to be in good books of my mangers and my colleagues. I continued to work good and as per my will for about 2 years. Then started the steep curve upwards. We got a mentally ill person to manage our project at senior management level. He with his corrupt thoughts strated torturing all the male employees in project. Actually i cant describe this person without swears and curses and thus wont go in describing him. As i was all unaware of all this politics, one day he called me for the retrospectwhich was basically a bad torture. When all this continued for 4-5 days finally he expressed his will to discontinue me from my job. It was a real shock, i was to young to take this up. i was shaken to the core as i never knew the reason for my expultion. But this incident showed me my true friends and true well-whisher. People from office and family helped me outrightly in whichever way they could. My mangers and colleagues helped me to take my case to the VP, HR who took timely actions to save my job.It feels really great when your Superiors and Colleague fight for you support you and do every thing for you. Out side office these guys help me get some interview calls and i managed to bag an offer from satyam within one month of this incident. But i was retained and moved on to client project from where i got my first Onsite opportunity.
to be continued.....

Choices.

As i start blogging in the wee hours, the feeling inside is of a unsettled human being. This very moment makes me remember one of the famous dialogue from movie 'Kaminey' : ' जिंदगी में हमारी वाट इससे नही लगती की हम कोनसा रास्ता चुनते है , वाट लगती है इससे की हम कोनसा रास्ता छोड़ते है'. I have just started realizing the deep meaning of this line. At this point of time i am stranded on such a crossroad. I always wonder why the choices are so close and crucial. Its just like solving an aptitude test where if one of ur approximations is wrong and you tick the wrong option, you are thrown out of competition. When i am still fighting with my choices, i am trying my might to convince me the reasonability of either of my choices. I am totally in awe with the life's ability to throw at you the options with equally weighted pros and cons. One option can take you to the apex of your life but if wrong, without any regrets, will show you the abyss. The ot...
